As Told By Locals: The Perfect Fall Date Activities in Buffalo, NY

And by locals, I mean my Instagram followers. Don’t worry, we can trust them. Probably.

Perfect Fall Date Activities in Buffalo, NY | Emily Malkowski

Hello and happy October, friends!

After what felt like the hottest summer that’s ever existed, ever, SPOOKY season is officially upon us. I am literally so ready to buy every pumpkin-related trinket that I absolutely do not need from the Target dollar section and every fall-scented candle at Bath and Body Works that has so much as even the slightest leaf design on it…you have no idea.

Sorry, I sort of blacked out while I was writing that, but I’m keeping it in.

You may recall, if you follow me on Instagram, that a while ago, I asked for your perfect fall-themed date ideas around Buffalo, whatever they may entail. Well, I’ve been sitting on that list for a while now (my bad, I’ve been busy), but I’m finally getting around to sharing all of your answers. And TBH, some of them are real good.

So here they are, in no particular order: the perfect fall date ideas in Buffalo, NY, according to locals (my Instagram followers), as told by me!

In particular, the annual Letchworth Arts & Crafts Show runs during Columbus Day weekend.

Or, any local State Park with fall foliage will do the trick, really. Re: The local State Parks guide that I wrote for Step Out Buffalo this summer.

2- visit a pumpkin patch

Which may or may not include carving pumpkins together afterwards, as well as the obligatory touching of pumpkin guts and roasting pumpkin seeds that accompanies.

A few awesome pumpkin patches in Western New York:

The Great Pumpkin Farm - 11199 Main Street, Clarence, NY 14031

Wheatfield Pumpkin Farm - 6920 Nash Rd, Wheatfield, NY 14120

Becker Farms - 3724 Quaker Rd, Gasport, NY 14067

3- APPLE PICKING

Bonus points if you can make a delicious treat from the apples you pick (apple crisp is my fave…just throwing it out there).

a few places to pick apples in western new york:

Becker Farms (what don’t they do?!) - 3724 Quaker Rd, Gasport, NY 14067

Roanoke Apple Farm - 6370 E Bethany Leroy Rd, Stafford, NY 14143

Blackman Holmstead Farm - 4472 Thrall Road Lockport, NY 14094

4- get spooked a haunted house

Not my cup of tea, personally…but hey, it’s a good reason to hold hands with your date, and I can acknowledge a good idea when I see one.

some of buffalo’s best haunted houses:

House of Horrors & Haunted Catacombs - 3637 Union Rd, Cheektowaga, NY 14225

FrightWorld, America’s Screampark - 2055 Niagara Falls Blvd, Amherst, NY 14228

I used to go to this a bunch as a kid- not so much anymore, I don’t know why! The park turns SPOOKY for late September & October, and honestly everyone is here for it.

I’m ashamed to admit I’ve never actually been here, but I’ve been dying to go for years now. Alright, it’s official, 2019 is the year I go to Mayer Bros Cider Mill and take a #basic pic of my doughnut and apple cider. Speaking this into existence.

There’s 21 total stops to explore on the Niagara Wine Trail- making for the perfect way to spend a fall weekend (day drinking and living your best life).

Did I miss anything?

Leave your favorite fall date activities in the comments, mostly just so I can swoon over how fun they’d be if I felt like actually doing anything besides laying in bed while wearing an over-sized sweatshirt and watching football on Sundays this season (at least I’m honest).
