Road Trip: 5 Instagram-Worthy Murals in Rochester, NY
A Handful of the Best Murals and Street Art in Rochester, NY
A quick hour drive from Buffalo, Rochester, NY is such a cute, artsy city, with murals popping up around basically every corner. Whether you’re a Rochester local or just looking for a good reason to take a quick road trip, I highly recommend checking out these awesome murals that are sure to get you all the likes on the ‘gram:
Greetings from Rochester Mural - 197 Park Ave
Pebbles - 70 Greenleaf Street
Being the huge Avengers and Captain America fans that we are, how could we not stop by and see this guy? As a part of the “WALL/THERAPY” project in 2015, international artist Andreas Englund commented that this piece is a fun play on the idea that even superheroes have these types of everyday moments like getting a pebble in your shoe.
Let Your Light Shine - 84 Scio Street
In an Instagram post, artist Shawn Dunwoody wrote: “Continue to let your light shine so you can help light the path for others,” and it just can’t be put more eloquently than that, in my opinion. Check this mural out on the side of The Rochester Religious Society of Friends (Quaker) Meeting House.
Rochester I love ya to pieces- 68 Matthews street
Just like the Greetings from Rochester mural, this piece is a perfect Instagram opportunity to showcase your love for the Flower City. Bring your friends, your out of town relatives, your dog, or even just yourself to this cute little alley, and be sure to check out the other pieces on the wall to the left, too.
Diamonds - 127 Railroad Street
The side of this building that sits between Railroad Street and Hayward Ave has prominently housed “Diamonds” since 2014. This beautiful pop of color was created and painted by an international artist named Above, who you can read more about here. The best part? It’s right near Boxcar Donuts, so do yourself a favor and stop in to grab a coffee and one of the prettiest donuts you’ll probably ever eat.
